Prepare to sail the safer seas as Sea of Thieves launches its new private game mode option for solo players and small groups.
With the Safer Seas update, this is the last major new feature added that the team promised at the start of season 10. What the safer sees update allows is a single cruise server. you can sail the seas alone or with a group of friends you choose to play with, offering a completely new way of playing the game. Sail and play the game, explore, and even have the chance to learn the game’s mechanics, play through narrative updates, and more in a private space. Just you and up to three chosen friends.
The team promises that this could offer you a peaceful way to learn the ropes and to potentially later just dive into the live game. The world is accessible and you'll have options like you can take on voyages for different trading companies, and you can even find world events out as you're exploring. You can also unlock the corresponding commendations for your log in Safer Seas, so this isn’t just a duck in and play for a bit without meaningful progress option.
You can also play through the narrative driven Tall Tales including several crossover events like the most recent Legend of Monkey Island crossover and even Pirates of the Caribbean crossover Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life. This means playing through all of these in a peaceful way with no surprises from enemy players that might try to cause trouble .
Because this is a private space with intentionally reduced risk, there will be some unavailable content and reduced reward. Anything related to PvP or faction battles are out, and no access to The Reaper’s Bones Trading Company or Athena’s Fortune. You also won’t be able to earn your way to a Pirate Legend title here.
Gold and reputation rewards are also reduced to 30% of what you’d get on the live servers.
