Sea of Thieves' Fifth Anniversary Celebration Brings Challenges, Free Items, and a Documentary in March

It’s anniversary time in Sea of Thieves. The fifth anniversary event will offer loot, challenges, activities, and celebrations throughout March.

First up is the Marauder’s Medley event, which runs through March 16th. During this event, there are five challenges that last for 48 hours each. The first challenge began yesterday, March 6th, so if you missed it, you still have a little time to get in. Each of the challenges will celebrate a year in the history of Sea of Thieves, with special anniversary-themed rewards. Complete any goal and you’ll get the new Fabulous Five eyepatch, with additional cosmetics from anniversaries past. This is your chance to grab items like the Golden Sailor Wheel, and X Marks the Spot Eye of Reach, plus gold and Renown.

After that event, starting on March 17th, a special themed sale featuring items to celebrate from older Rare games and Sea of Thieves’ 2021 collaboration with Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean.

Also beginning on the 17th, log in between then and March 22nd for a special present in your ship customization chest: the Lustrous Legend Figurehead. Maybe head over to the Emporium for a free new emote, Down the Hatch. There will also be a fifth anniversary picture wall at the New Golden Sands Outpost starting March 20th.

Rare will send out the anniversary month with a couple of additional special updates and events. First up,Twitch Drops will be available to streamers to give out for watching Sea of Thieves. There will be a Community Weekend this month, not just the usual community day. From March 25-27th, This special weekend will give anyone special treats, including the latest event flag, a new emote, Baker's Barrel Disguise, and a free Pirate Legend Voyage. 

The team will also be celebrating the day of the Sea of Thieves anniversary on March 20th, with the debut of a documentary film, Sea of Thieves: Voyage of a Lifetime. The documentary looks back on the development of the game and how things have grown and changed to this point.
