Sea of Thieves is ready to sail into Season 12 tomorrow, and also make its debut on PlayStation 5. The Rare team previewed the new season, detailing new weapons, rewards, a new artifact, and a few new ways to travel.

There are several new weapons coming in the season including the Double Barrel Pistol and Throwing Knives. Fire one shot and then the next before you reload, or charge up and fire both at the same time. Throwing Knives offer two options as well: stab your enemy or throw your knives. If you miss, you can pick a knife back up and replenish your ammo, but if someone throws a knife at you you can pick that up and send it back at them.

The ships aren't left out. The Scattershot is a new cannonball that you can find in storage barrels. Fire it and it breaks into four smaller cannonballs for multiple strikes on an enemy ship. Maybe the Bone Caller is more your thing? If you use this throwable, you will summon a bunch of skeletons to fight for you and attack your enemies. You can even fire the Bone Caller from a cannon on your ship and unleash a skeleton attack on an enemy crew.

One of the biggest parts of this update includes new ways of traveling around. The Horn of Fair Winds is a new artifact you can use to summon wind. It has a limited charge, but you can turn a rowboat into a speedboat, use the wind to cushion your fall or even to blast some enemies out of your way. As you travel around you'll notice a bunch of zip lines added around the islands that you can use. you can also start walking across Harpoon lines which you can use to make quick exits.

With the launch of a new season there are 100 levels of rewards that you can unlock including new cosmetics.

This new season is not like previous one since it also ushers in the arrival of Sea of Thieves on PlayStation 5 for a completely cross-platform, cross-progression experience. For those who preordered on PS5 or who participated in the recent beta, there will be some special gifts waiting.
