Sea of Thieves has a new developer update video on Season 14’s stealth features’ return and what else is in this week’s update.

Season 14 has obviously had a few major issues, but the Rare team has been working to address them and get them in the game. Crouching returned recently, and this week's update will put in additional stealth features. Deployable traps are coming, the ability to hang from ledges while you're sneaking around, and disguises are finally returning too.

With Season 14’s issues, the team is also internally working on a new process to improve quality control and to catch critical issues early. They’ll reveal more later.

As for this week’s update, no more quick switching, so you can't just crouch and then gain a firing speed advantage by doing so. Other fixes will eliminate the ability to get underneath the Fort of the Damned and pilfer treasure from the vault, and you can't grab supplies from barrels after you move out of range.

Other fixes include a system to detect the ability to wield giant items, so don't do it or you'll get an automatic ban. The  team has been working on getting ahead of things like ban evasions and for inappropriate actions. The work they've been doing has led to a decrease by half in cheating reports since August.

The new update also offers dubloon and gold bonuses for those who play in the first week of the update, and a Voyage of luck or legendary Voyage of luck for those who are Pirate Legend level. These are coming in the update, but these new additions will be part of the monthly refresh going forward and come from the Live Events team that is working on more surprises for the live event calendar.

The player support team is also announcing changes to Safer Seas, a feature added last December. These private instanced spaces were used by a variety of players, but fell short as an onboarding experience. Now, players will learn reputation at level 25, down from 40, gold and reputation rewards will now be 100%, which means that if you do your first 25 levels within one of these spaces, you'll get full progression up to level 25 and then you can continue in the live game.
