Beast Burst has brought Scars of Honor, its upcoming fantasy MMORPG to Kickstarter, launching a campaign to support development and spark more interest from investors. The new campaign just launched for the project, in development since 2021, and looks to help bring the cross-platform, classic inspired game across the finish line.
Scars of Honor is planned as a free to play, cross-platform MMORPG, with PC, Mac, and Linux supported and a mobile extension for certain tasks on the go in the works. As a free to play title they do plan for a cosmetic shop in game. Right now, with the game in development, some of the campaign rewards include “Honored” accounts. Honored and Supporter licenses have been out there already, but those earning them as rewards here will get access to scheduled playtests several times a year. These licenses will remain in effect until the game launches, meaning you’ll get the chance to offer early feedback. The team will be offering something called appearance subscriptions, with varying cosmetic items included in the price. There are additional level subscriptions that give access to the 24/7 dedicated PTR server
The initial goal is $200,000, which is going to seem low to many. This is true, and the devs know this, adding in their FAQ that they do already have investors, and the campaign “helps us reach it faster and get noticed on the Kickstarter website. When our Kickstarter succeeds, it doesn't just bring in money; it shows others that our project is worth believing in. This trust can attract more investors and larger funds down the line”.
With this low of a goal on appearance, especially without diving further into the campaign, many might be suspicious. YouTuber Callum Upton did a video specifically addressing this, citing having consulted a bit on the project and detailing more about the campaign goal, the team at Beast Burst, and confirming that Scars of Honor is indeed on its way.
Of course, the campaign is key to that, so if you’re interested in learning more about the game, Callum’s video is an informative one. You can see more on the Scars of Honor Kickstarter page.
