Neverwinter’s next module is just around the corner. Demonweb Pits will conclude the Menzoberranzan arc with the ability to challenge a God and save the city.
If it sounds like a tall order, it will be. Cryptic Studios is bringing this 26th module to PC and consoles on July 18th, and it will feature a story arc where you'll have to save the drow city of Menzoberranzan from the spider goddess, Lolth. The new module will also add a brand new adventure zone, Narbondellyn, that lets you explore the house of Fey-Branche, and Demonweb Pits, a new dungeon that will let you face off against Lolth. Expect new hunts throughout Menzoberranzan and a number of improvements that include a new more streamlined leveling experience.
If you have not finished the most recent story content, now is your chance before this new module releases. There are some spoilers ahead in the official description setting up the new module content, but it is packed, especially since it is concluding this big arc.
“Gromph Baenre, the Archmage of Menzoberranzan, has recovered his lost demon summoning tome, Zhaun'ol'leal. Pouring over ancient texts within the Sorcere, the Archmage hoped to find a way to gain access to Lolth’s domain within the Abyss, the Demonweb Pits. This caused a spell to materialize and fracture under its own weight, resulting in the Material Plane and the Demonweb Pits to be connected -- allowing demons, including Lolth, to step into the Underdark and a torrent of abyssal magic to flood into the Narbondellyn district.”
Whoops. Cleanup time in Menzoberranzan.
With all of the demons that have been unleashed, of course it'll be up to you to hunt more and more challenging enemies to earn yourself better rewards. These demons will share a mix of mechanics that have been introduced in previous hunts from other modules like Dragonslayer and Barovia. The Demonweb Pits dungeon, coming with three difficulty tiers, will have all new bosses, secrets, mechanics, and rewards–and of course, a faceoff against Lolth.
Cryptic is also planning on overhauling and adding to the leveling experience. Not only will there be new goals for players who've already reached the level cap of 20 to continue progressing, new rewards, and an overall extended new user experience that improves and bridges the journey to endgame.
