If you’re supporting either the new or old Runescape games through the optional subscription, there’s good news and bad news. Jagex has announced on the official site that the Runescape Membership prices, an optional service unlocking more perks and resources, will be increasing as of September 27. However, certain players will have their old costs grandfathered in.
The Runescape Membership is technically optional for the free games, but for both versions, it does unlock the full spectrum of MMORPG goodness that both versions has to offer, including all the quests, skills and world, plus a personal home and port. The annual Premier Membership also has perks on top of that, including cosmetics, daily rewards, and an extra weekly Boss instance.
The Membership prices will soon increase as follows:
- 1-Month: $13.99 USD/€12.49 (currently $12.49/€10.99)
- 6-Month: $71.94 USD/€50.94 (currently $59.99/€53.99
- Premier (Yearly): $99.48 USD/€89.88 (currently $79.99/€69.99)
There will be a “Grandfather Rate,” but there's a catch—it’ll only be for players who are maintaining their 1-Month and 6-Month rates. You also can’t let the membership lapse for any reason for more than 14 days, or else you’ll be converted to these new higher rates. There doesn’t seem to be a cutoff for this before it changes, so if you’re interested, you might want to get in on it.
However, Premier subscribers, who pay annually, will need to pay the new rates if their subscription is up for renewal after the September 27 change date. It unfortunately checks out, as Premier memberships do come with more perks, as the blog explains.
If you’re paying for a Membership with Bonds, the price won’t change, though the prices did already go up back in June.
