RuneScape's new Combat Mastery Achievements are arriving on Monday, and the team is previewing the system, what you can do, how to get started, and how to rack up the rewards.
There are six tiers of achievements to collect as you take on bosses from all 24 years of RS PvM history. Easy, medium, hard, elite, master, and grandmaster. complete a series of combat focused tasks to earn achievements. generally there are three categories of tasks with a number of previous achievements having been moved into the new system as well.
The types of tasks you'll most commonly encounter are for kill speed, kill count, and mechanical achievements. Things like defeating a boss within a certain time frame, defeating a boss a certain number of times, or defeating a boss in a certain way. Mechanical achievement tasks can also be:
“Unorthodox - Complete the encounter in an 'unorthodox' way, such as not resolving mechanics
Perfect - Complete the encounter in a 'perfect' way, such as avoiding all avoidable boss mechanics”
If you've already completed some of the tasks that would qualify you for some of the achievements, most will be retroactively applied except for things like kill speed achievements.
The goals are simply there to show you what is available and what could be within reach. you can complete the achievements in any order. Choose previous tiers or you jump ahead if you're confident enough to complete what's available. Maybe there's some loot that's really tempting and all you do is dedicate yourself to preparing to kill a certain boss as fast as possible. All of the possibilities are listed in the preview.
At certain point thresholds, you unlock “War’s Blessing”, a passive reward system (itself with four tiers) to enhance combat experiences without direct power boosts. These are things like a 5% increase to earned Marks of War in the first tier to guaranteed chance of activating Reaper's Choice in tier 4. In tiers 3 and 4, He'll be able to select specific boss rotations and theWar’s Grimoire, to let you swap between your unlocked spellbooks.
The RuneScape team couldn’t forget new items to show your accomplishments. There are ssix cosmetic necklaces ( to display alongside your favorite capes) and cosmetic auras. Master and Grandmaster get special auras and chat badges too.
