RuneScape is previewing its end of the year roadmap, with a new cinematic for the upcoming arrival of Vorkath, in “Battle for Forthinry”, the Christmas event with new additions, new Vorkath event, and updates on combat and visual upgrades.
On November 13th, an in-game seasonally-themed area will open up, functioning as a festive base and a way to preview what else is on the way through year’s end. On that day, the newest graphical updates for dungeons will go live too.
On November 20th, a new chapter in Necromancy begins with the arrival of Vorkath and Battle for Forthinry.
“Zemouregal has succeeded in resurrecting the ancient dragon Vorkath on Ungael. Together with his undead army, Zemouregal plans to destroy all of Varrock - and only Fort Forinthry stands in his way.”
In the new cinematic, he claims that his plans have not been stopped but only stalled, so this is the latest attempt, bearing a dragon. You can fight the new boss with any combat style in your choice of difficulty options, and if you're victorious, expect ranged and Necromancy drops. The team will preview this big update in depth next week.
Also on November 20th, to join the new update, there is a new event: Vorkath Hunt: Guard & Lantern Shard. Collect shards by completing tasks during the event.Tasks will be themed around the update, including fighting and defeating Vorkath, although they’ve heard feedback and will include some alternate options for the non PvMers. Collect enough shards and walk away with temporary buffs and new cosmetics for your Necromancy weapons.
November 27th begins the new Christmas Village event with a new quest, a new location, and brand new activities to enjoy. Oh, and The Black Party Hat will become a new seasonable tradable rare this year.
In December, expect some fixes for issues brought up by the community. What isn’t happening this year is the graphical update to Kandarin. Has been pushed to January 15th, with updates to Rellekka to come after that.
