2020 has been a year, hasn’t it? The RuneScape dev blog sure thinks so as it looks back on the past year with some great news for the community.

In short, the game has significantly grown in the last year. Daily players and active players reached the highest levels yet in the past five years. Additionally, member population is on the rise with a bunch of returning players and new players.

The blog points to the accomplishments given the truly incredible conditions presented by 2020 writing,

“I am really proud of what the team delivered and achieved under difficult conditions this year, and for launching on a brand new platform like Steam. When I think of the incredible quality bar we hit with the release of Archaeology, the switch to a monthly release schedule that featured quests, skilling content, DnDs, combat content, the community focused Ninja Strikes and continual improvement of our time limited events... it blows me away.”

The blog thanks the community for breathing life into the game, especially during the Steam launch. The blog looks ahead as well discussing how they intend to grow the team. A new project to improve your character avatar will begin. It’s quite complex, but expect to hear more early next year.

You can check out the full blog here. It’s nice to read some good news for a change, right?
