Rumors suggest Riot Games’ MMO may not be based in its League of Legends IP after all, but that it will instead be an MMOFPS set in the same world as its popular multiplayer first person shooter, VALORANT.
Website The Riot MMO has been tracking various details that have appeared in job listings for Project T, conversations, and even player surveys that make the case for Riot’s MMO being an MMOFPS. Many of the job listings contain references to details such as “experience working with cameras or controls in a AAA PvP FPS” or progression that includes collecting and selling gear such as guns, armor, and accessories.
The last we’ve heard officially about Riot’s MMO is an announcement from Riot that the game would be going dark for several years. In that announcement, Riot’s Marc Merrill stated that the team is still working on its MMO, but that they had to reset the project and go back to the drawing board due to the fact the game the studio was producing wasn’t sufficiently different from the sorts of MMOs players can play currently. The goal for Riot is to build something that is a “significant evolution of the genre” according to Merrill.
