RMTs To Be Punished For Wasting Dev Time

Crowfall team members participated in a Reddit AMA yesterday where they answered a wide variety of community questions. While there were many interesting topics and answers, the most compelling question centered around real money transactions (RMT). The developer said that RMT is a probability that comes at players' own risk. Complaining to the team will doubtless result in a punishment for the "victim" and the "perpetrator".

Accounts advertising in game or on the forum will be dealt with by development team. Players are warned that if they get scammed, it's not ArtCraft's problem.

- Real money transactions, once the game goes live will we be able to buy and sell things from other players? Why or why not?

- Good luck with that. We will have a way for people to trade in game. We have a way for people to monetize retired items no longer in our store. If you try to advertise buying and selling in our game or on our forums we will discipline the account. If you get ripped off, too damned bad, not our problem. If you bring it to our attention that you bought and sold for real world money we'll probably discipline your account for wasting our time. We don't try to police things outside the Crowfall service, but if it causes us problems we'll play whack-a-mole. Nuff said.

Other discussed topics include:

  • There would be an alternative to fast mounts for larger archetypes such as Myrmidon or Stalker;
  • Bogbears and Helcats would be tamable, but the decision whether or not they will become mounts has not yet been made;
  • Monetization model for the game - buy to play with optional subscription and store;
  • Having the in-game economy be completely player driven;
  • The team would like Crowfall to have SLI support, but is not ready to promise that;
  • ArtCraft is happy with Unity engine, it had accelerated the progress on the game significantly;
  • The weather system is currently not planned;
  • Stealth systems would be coming online with next major milestone;
  • No tab-targetting option;
  • The entire enchanting system will be reworked before the launch;
  • There will be a series of open beta tests. Anyone with account on Crowfall.com can participate;
  • Open beta tests and launch have not yet been scheduled.
