Riders of Icarus is shutting down and ending service. The team announced the shutdown is coming this May.
The team’s announcement (via MMOFallout) thanked the community for their time spent and their passion over the years. They also announced the dates to keep in mind if you’re still playing.
Tomorrow, February 13, 2025, all in-game purchases will be disabled. Presumably, if you have any in-game currency you'll want to spend it however possible before the game shuts down, since there's no word on any sort of compensation or refunds for currency purchases or shop spending, even recent shop spending.
On April 24th, the final in-game events including community farewell events will happen. “As a token of our appreciation, we are planning special farewell events leading up to the shutdown. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating the memories we’ve made together.”
Finally, the servers will go down on May 15th.
This comes a year after the game shut down its Southeast Asia server and attempted to get more players on the North American and European servers. It also follows the conversion of Riders of Icarus to a ‘play to earn’ blockchain title on the Wemix platform back in 2022 by publisher Valofe, which took over RoI back in 2019.
