Riders of Icarus, which became a play to earn blockchain title a couple of years back, is planning to close down its SEA region servers, while offering significant boosts on North American and European servers as a temptation to start over.
The closure comes as the team admits that the Southeast Asia regional server, Torkai, simply did not have enough of a player population to continue. The Valofe team released a FAQ and more details about the closure dates and what will happen to everyone's accounts.
The big thing to note is that with the closure, everything will be completely deleted, including all character information, items, and progress. There will be no server transfers, so if you want to continue playing the game you'd have to start over on a North American or European server. All of the items that you have will be lost, and if you have any currency, especially virtual currency like Elluns and Princess coins, you'll have to spend them, since there are no refunds for those or premium services. The game went play to earn back in 2022.
The team will close the shop one month before they shut down the server on September 11th, 2024.
The team acknowledges that they are making this announcement several months in advance of the server closure in order to tempt some players to start over on less populated servers in the North American and European regions. For those who want to start over on a new server, there are 16 server and chat buffs. These buffs will last until the server shuts down, so they're hoping people start a new character on those open servers soon.
In addition to the different buffs to help speed your progression on a new server, there will also be coupon codes for promotional packages that are intended to be a type of compensation for SEA server players losing everything.
