The Blizzard team has gone on record with a new World of Warcraft feature that is not yet on the PTR but will be soon and that will be included in the v6.2.0 update. Called "Timewalking", it will feature special three day weekend events that will allow players to revisit dungeons long since outgrown, but in a new iteration that will see players' gear scaled down to bring the challenge back. While gear is scaled downward, players will retain all skills and talents.
In addition, loot drops will be appropriately scaled upward to be of value to high level players.
The dungeons mentioned for timewalking, and that will be tested on the PTR over the next several weeks are:
- The Arcatraz
- Black Morass
- Mana-Tombs
- The Shattered Halls
- The Slave Pens
- Ahn’kahet: The Old Kingdom
- Gundrak
- Halls of Lightning
- The Nexus
- Utgarde Pinnacle
Players of level 71 or higher can take part in Burning Crusade dungeons and level 81 for Wrath of the Lich King dungeons.
