Wayfinder's new Echoes update changes the game over from live service to a “pay-once” title. This new standalone title Wayfinder Echoes will introduce significant changes, including Matchmaking, a new Wayfinder, housing expansion, and much more according to the developers.
They state,
“Having all played titles that have gone through this cycle, we wanted to take a different approach. We cherish the world our team has created and the characters we've introduced to our players, and we don't want them to be lost in the Gloom. Our goal is to leave players with a product they can enjoy indefinitely.”
We did learn about this change of scenery per se back in May, as Airship Syndicate revealed they would be removing all microtransactions alongside the live service changes. During these changes, the devs also allowed Founders to test out the Echoes update to get their feedback as the process moves along.
During these changes, the game was temporarily taken off of Steam while Airship Syndicate took over publishing from Digital Extremes, but is now back on the market at a discounted price for a limited time.
With all of the new changes and Wayfinder Echoes basically becoming a standalone title, it is worth noting that no previous save data will be carried over from the old version to the new version of Wayfinder.
