Rend Environments to Play a Key Role

The Rend site has been updated with a new post laying out some of the details about environments in the game and how they will "play a key role" in how the game world and factional battles will go down. There are several locations that range from safer to dangerous and everything in between.

  • Valley - the closest and safest location to your team's base. There are relatively easy creatures to fight and common resources to harvest, all useful, of course, in the basic construction and maintenance of your team's base. To create bronze, however, will require a trip to each faction's Valley to mine the required components.
  • Center - the location of the World Tree and the least bounteous location, though what can be found there is rare and desireable. This is the place that the most pitched battles will take place and its landscape will participate with craters that can instantly kill a player.
  • Cave - Unbelievably, the Cave becomes colder the further in and towards the center of the planet a player goes. It is packed with creature and heat effects that can take down the heartiest of players. Silver and Iron can be found there along with rats, bears, spiders and more.
  • Eternal Wastes - Found in the depths of a cave, a mysterious portal takes you to a frozen wasteland filled with Shriekers. The hope is that the risk is worth the reward.

The post also reveals the Divinity Stone, the site of each faction's base and where construction will begin. These bases are protected by a shield until something called the Reckoning begins -- a pre-scheduled event where bases become vulnerable to attack.
