Remedy Entertainment’s ‘Condor’ a live-service Control spin-off and the studio’s first service-based title will enter full production later this year and it won’t be free-to-play, either. Details were revealed as part of the studio’s annual financial report.

The game is being developed for the PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on Remedy’s proprietary Northlight engine with an initial dev budget of $27 million.

In the game, the Federal Bureau of Control is trapped within the Oldest House, which is under lockdown following the Hiss Invasion. The FBC will call on all of its members to fight back and regain control of the Oldest House.

Remedy says players will face “overwhelming enemies” in the depths of the Oldest House, but alludes to typical service game trappings such as co-op multiplayer and gear to give players a fighting chance against their foes.

On pricing, Remedy considers ‘Condor’ a “service-based fixed price” title, saying, “These are premium games that may have a lower initial price point but a long tail of revenue through updates, game expansions and potentially microtransactions.”

Rockstar Games funded remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2 are in the works at Remedy as well, with a budget similar to what the studio worked with to develop Alan Wake 2.
