As previously announced in the original reveal, Red Dead Redemption 2 is now available to preorder on PC via the Rockstar Games Launcher. The PC version includes many additional items to entice folks, with Rockstar themselves saying the PC version of RDR 2 will be the, “ultimate version of Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang’s open world epic.”
Rockstar’s Newswire has provided some additional details surrounding minimum and recommended specs.
Minimum Specifications:
- OS: Windows 7 - Service Pack 1 (6.1.7601)
- Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-2500K / AMD FX-6300
- Memory: 8GB
- Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 2GB / AMD Radeon R9 280 3GB
- HDD Space: 150GB
- Sound Card: DirectX compatible
Recommended Specifications:
- OS: Windows 10 - April 2018 Update (v1803)
- Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-4770K / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X
- Memory: 12GB
- Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB / AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB
- HDD Space: 150GB
- Sound Card: DirectX compatible
Suffice it to say, these are not heavy specs, but we have no clue if these specs target a specific resolution and framerate, like 1080p 60fps. Nevertheless, 150 GB of storage is a lot, so be sure to clear out space.
This can be partially explained by the many graphical enhancements coming exclusively to the PC version,
“New graphical and technical enhancements for deeper immersion include increased draw distances for better navigation; higher quality global illumination and ambient occlusion for improved day and night lighting; higher quality snow trails, improved reflections and deeper, higher resolution shadows at all distances; tessellated tree textures and improved grass and fur textures for added realism in every plant and animal.”
Additionally, HDR, multi-monitor configs, 4K+ resolutions, and much higher framerates are also promised.
If you purchase RDR2 on the Rockstar Launcher from now until October 22, you’ll receive two of the following games for free:
- Grand Theft Auto III
