Blizzard has announced that World of Warcraft sold almost a quarter of a million copies in 24 hours, making it the fastest selling PC game in history. The tally is now well over 350,000.
Apparently, the day one demand was so great (over 200,000 accounts registered within 24 hours) that Blizzard was forced to double their servers, from 40 to 80, to keep pace with the player demand. Since the burden on the servers prevented some players from accessing the game for several days, Blizzard has offered to extend the term of the trial period for accounts registered between November 23rd and 26th.
