The Star Trek Online site has been updated with a new post that lays out the first details for a new system coming to the game called "Re-Engineering". Under the system, crafters will be able to re-roll certain mods on created items to better fit the build they are aiming for.

Players will utilize a new currency called "Salvage" that will drop from salvaging equipment earned in loot drops. The amount of Salvage that is needed  in Re-Engineering depends on the number of mods a crafter wishes to re-roll. The more mods re-rolled, the more Salvage currency is required.

With the new Re-Engineering system, we have taken the opportunity to create several new Epic mods. Weapons, Shields, Engines, Deflectors, Secondary Deflectors, and Ground Armor have all received an assortment of new Epic Mods. We’ve chosen to maintain the existing Epic mod as the default mod that is selected when a piece of equipment is upgraded to Epic, which you can then choose to re-roll if you desire.
