Ravendawn’s latest update is heavy on the user experience improvements, including performance improvement, some penalties for griefing, more fishing tweaks, and updated to the Mentor system for fairer play.
The Mentor system was intended to let some players have help from other, more experienced players, and to allow for playing with friends no matter their level. It was also designed to help those with less time to not feel like they got completely left behind as others progressed faster.
The team has made a significant change to the system in this patch, given that people were taking advantage of the generous experience gain to power level other players. So now the system will drop the experience gain from mentoring another player by 50%, to still help those with less time or who could benefit from someone helping them learn the ropes.
In an effort to stop players from attacking those of a much lower level at Culling Spawns, if you kill a player who is 10 effective levels below you, you will automatically earn normal infamy gain, but this isn't the only change they are exploring to help reduce griefing in the game.
Tavernlight has also activated the EU proxy system to help reduce ping and improve performance in the region. This follows the SA proxy system, with the next one set for the SEA region.
Ravendawn is also adding alternate outfit cosmetics, which will create alternate versions of the T3/4/5 cosmetics for real money, while preserving the look of the same outfits that you get by playing the game. Player polls did endorse a hybrid system, but a significant enough slice wanted the stuff you work for in game to remain unique.
The team also added the promised fishing bait system in this patch, which will increase the value of some fish by allowing for varied weights of the catch, without changing the difficulty. There are several options available.
In a look ahead, the Ravendawn team decided against releasing the pre-set builds in this patch, citing the need to add support for the presets to the hotbars first, but this will come very soon. What is taking longer are some in-development PvP changes, but those are also moving forward.
