Legacy: Steel & Sorcery, previously codenamed Project Honor, is Notorious Studios’ upcoming PvPvE open-world action game. With an Early Access coming sometime this year, the game got a new trailer and more details this week.
Originally announced back in 2022, on a few occasions, the team revealed some concept art and goals, but the new info really opens the door on what to expect. On the game’s Steam page, it says: “Legacy: Steel & Sorcery is a third-person action PvPvE RPG featuring distinctive fantasy classes. Go on adventures solo or with friends to search for treasures, level up, and defeat any who stand in your way”
The gameplay video gives us a first look at what to expect. It's a fantasy game, so there are bound to be some elements that are familiar. Run around an open world, open chests, find loot, spot an enemy and see who is skilled and tough enough to walk away from that fight.
“Combat has been designed from the ground up for PvP,” the description continues. “In the wilds, the spoils go to the victor. The world is more real when everyone's hard-earned loot is on the line. Victories are savored while defeat hardens resolve.”
In other words, it’s an open world with content to enjoy, places to explore, and full loot PvP.
In a FAQ on the game's site, they go into a little more detail. You can play solo or with up to two other friends into an open world map that supports up to 24 players. The game will be session-based, but your progression will be persistent. The objective is to explore around, take on challenges, kill players, kill monsters, snap up loot and get safely back into town.
The team plans to release in Early Access sometime this year. That Early access will be another period of active development, but Legacy: Steel & Sorcery has been in development for three years now, and the planned Early Access is expected to last at least a year when it opens. This will mean several major content updates and new features the community can give feedback on as they polish things up and prepare for the eventual full launch.
