Update 18 is the free-to-all patch for Elder Scrolls Online players that will go live when the Summerset Isles expansion launches. It promises to bring a lot of quality of life improvements but also a number of changes to the PvP system. Players will be able to set off on daily faction-based quests in Cyrodiil that can be completed once per day per character. These will yield the Gladiator's Rucksacks that come packed with crafting materials, treasure maps and redeemable Gladiator's Proof.

Other new features for PvPers include:

  • Alliance Points and Experience will be rewarded to all players who performed an action around an objective whether they're still in the area or not. Players will not have to "wait for the tick". The caveat is that participation is required. You can't just "walk into an area and get a reward".
  • catapults will be more effective
  • monsters and guards in Champion Point-enabled campaigns are tougher
  • scoring adjustments with regard to under-population and underdog evaluations
  • performance improvements to decrease latency
  • high-end PCs will "enjoy a boost to framerate"
  • Battlegrounds will become part of the base game
  • queuing for random Battlegrounds and placing 1st or 2nd will yield the Battlemaster Rivyn's Reward Box
  • players can choose what type of match they'd like to queue for
