An old world is returning to PUBG next month, showcasing a fan-favorite world and mechanics to boot.
The Erangel Classic world recreates the first battleground to come to PUBG when developer Krafton Inc. first launched the game, bringing a massive wave of nostalgia back to the fan base. The old-school balancing of the matches will also be brought back, so not only do we get the old world, but we get all of the old features as well. This includes the ability to run in as quickly as possible to bag your favorite weapon before the opposition does, as well as the old graphics and “tacky” fonts fans came to love in 2017.
In regards to this blast from the past, the developers state,
“We're taking it back to where it all began–but with a few modern tweaks! Erangel Classic preserves the essence of the earlier version of Erangel, its distinctive appearance and atmosphere, all while delivering the enjoyable gameplay experiences that players have grown accustomed to. Check out the Patch Notes on May 13 for full details on all the throwbacks. “

The event will go live on May 14th and conclude on May 28th for PC players. Console players will have to wait until May 23rd to dive in, and the event will end on June 6th for them instead.
Having released into Early Access back in 2017, PlayersUnknown Battlegrounds really started a trend and a bit of an era, as we have seen so many Battle Royale titles spawn since then. Of course, PUBG has had several changes and updates since the good old days, or maybe the not-so-good old days with the technological advances we’ve had since then. PUBG paved the way for several new Battle Royale-type games and even became a record-breaking title on Steam as one of the most-played games in the history of the platform.
Even though Erangel is still in the map rotation today, this detour back to the simpler times will undoubtedly stir up nostalgia, bringing back memories made within the original world. But it also offers a chance to create new, exciting memories as you traverse Erangel once again.
