Today, KRAFTON revealed the 2024 roadmap for PUBG: Battlegrounds, and with it came the announcement that not only will there be big things happening to the game itself, but that it will be moving to Unreal Engine 5.
PUBG: Battlegrounds will be getting major improvements, including destructible environments, gameplay changes and fixes, as well as new content of course. These destructible environments will add a bit more depth and immersion to the gameplay, as players will now be able to destroy buildings and barriers in order to attack the opposition on a different front. This allows players to utilize their surroundings to their advantage and plan to make the perfect striking point to blast enemies to bits.
As for the changes in gameplay, gunplay updates will be added every two months in order to give players more choices. There will also be a few survival items added to continue onto that immersive feeling.
As with most roadmaps comes new content in general, and KRAFTON mentions that there will be new things coming to the already existing maps. This includes things like new modes, collabs, and new seasons to follow along with.
For those who are more interested in the technical side of things, there will also be new matchmaking improvements and changes to the MMR system as a whole. MMR stands for Matchmaking Rating, which is how the game determines who to match who within matches. The improvements being made will ensure a more careful and smooth process to make matches feel more balanced and fair.
There are plenty more changes coming to PUBG: Battlegrounds, and anyone interested can watch the entire video discussing the changes here.
