Automaton is ready to unveil its upcoming SpatialOS-powered MMORPG pithily titled Project X at an upcoming PC Gamer Weekender in London on February 17th. Project X is said to have its own embedded "battle royale" mode with up to 400 players taking part at once. The team will be on hand during the event to show off game play footage as well as provide viewers with a bit of background on the game's development.

"You're all on an island and it's set in the near future. There's a reason you're all there. There is a central capital which runs the area. You have four faction towns which have different agendas. They want to live there and make the best of what they have or they're really trying to take over. You're part of this set of people who have come in and you're going to be here to overthrown the whole regime effectively, and that will literally happen." Automaton's James Thompson has said.

From the Automaton website:

Since 2015 we've been working on the groundwork for a new generation of massively multiplayer online experiences. We've recently shared some details of our first MMO, due for launch in 2018, and look forward to our full announcement in the coming months.

We've recently announced a few details of our upcoming tactical shooter: an MMO of unprecedented scale, supporting 1000 concurrent players in an ultra-high fidelity world instance. It is set in a huge, photoreal and highly dynamic environment, with strong character progression, social hubs, intelligent mission systems and global-scale player-driven narrative. More details to follow later this year!

The event will take place in London the weekend of February 17th. You can find out how to get hold of tickets by visiting this site.
