Project Genom is beginning to gain notice with North American and European audience as an independently developed project to watch. The game has been Greenlit on Steam and a new crowd funding iniative has begun through the sale of founders' packs.

Most recently the Project Genom team has updated the site with a new developer blog regarding character progression. Character progression in terms of the actual player avatar does not follow the typical stat-based system of strength, agility, etc. Instead player characters will advance their internal organs along three different paths - human, synthetic and mutant.

In addition other progression paths will open in a variety of game systems, such as the following:

  • Weapon
  • Armor
  • Equipment
  • Crafting
  • Upgrades
  • Research
  • Loot
  • Devices
  • Transport
  • Sidekicks
  • Building
  • Space
Each system can further be specialized along any one of six different categories, as can be seen in the image below.  Skills in each of these categories can be improved through the use of the chips that increase the amount of experience gained up to a certain limit, at which time a new chip will need to be found.

Lastly, interested fans can help crowd-fund Project Genom through a variety of packages ranging from $18-$120, each with a variety of bonuses, titles and more.
