ArenaNet is committed to making sure that professions are balanced in Guild Wars 2, so much so that each will be watched closely with quarterly updates focusing on keeping things in check. In a new blog post by Karl McLain, the first series of balances changes are outlined for each class with implementation coming sometime in Q1 2016.
The goals of the first update include reduction of highest level defensive and offensive effectiveness while simultaneously increasing effectiveness of what has been determined to be lesser used options. In addition, some professions "themes" are being changed to give a stronger place in the game.
In an effort to normalize gameplay around downstate, we’ll be making death and resurrection more absolute; while resurrecting allies or stomping enemies, the effects of quickness and slow will no longer have an effect. We’ll also be making a change to slow to bring it more in line with its quickness counterpart, slightly reducing its overall effectiveness. With that said, let’s talk about the professions.
Each of the nine professions has a short description of some of the changes that will be forthcoming. You can check out the full blog on the Guild Wars 2 site.
