The latest ArcheAge Producer's Letter has been published that reveals a brand new commitment from the team to "look at what we can improve [on] in everything we do". This includes direct communication from XLGames about, for instance, specific changes to game systems and the reasons behind it.
Other notable take aways from the letter include:
- a Battle Balance patch will be coming after the launch of the Maelstrom update. This will target rebalancing of skills and combat with regard to "both class balance and specific skill balance". The changes are being tested in Korea "extensively" through Focus Test Groups. North American and European players will also be included going forward.
- Marketplace Changes - more parity between the NA/EU versions and the KR version in terms of how things are sold. The goal is to release things in NA/EU the same way as they are in KR, though there will still be times when there are differences. In addition, revisions to the supply crate contents will be tweaked and better communicated to the players. Lastly, specific items will be purchasable with in-game currency.
- Fresh Start Server - the team is looking at ways to improve them rather than pushing them out before the end of the year. "We need to make changes to how we handle these releases". Fresh Start servers will arrive in 2018.
- Lunagem improvements are incoming along with the crafting folio overhaul and the ability to mix/match titles and stats.
-
NA/EU Unique Changes - Trion will be making sure "that our updates are better tailored for our region" based on player feedback.

Some other examples include:
-
No change to labor costs when making larders while still reducing larder size
-
No increased consumption of basic materials. 3 logs will still craft 1 lumber.
-
Allowing old lunagems to continue to be slotted into items post-Maelstrom (though these gems work under the rules of the old lunagem system)
-
Keeping our boss schedule the way it is without changes
-
Reducing the effectiveness of Draughts of Forgiveness (consequences for your actions are coming, lawbreakers!)
-
Keeping the Thunderwing Titan’s cooldown at 48 hours instead of extending to 72
-
…and more that will be revealed as we talk about Maelstrom this month.
