Fallout 76’s upcoming Milepost Zero update gets a new preview from the game’s creative director, Jon Rush, who takes us into caravans, the Best Builds CAMP feature, and the new legendary crafting system.

Caravans will arrive in Skyline Valley. You'll get a new quest that sees you run caravans along the drive, and even foster bonds with other wastelanders while you're running routes. The quest leads you to Milepost Zero, which is an abandoned headquarters for the Blue Ridge Caravan company.

Caravan running won't be easy, and you can unlock a caravan Outpost of your own by completing missions for the Blue Ridge Caravan company. Your fellow players can help you, although you'll earn more rewards if you start the caravan yourself. You might consider setting up a camp near one of the new caravan routes to encourage others to visit your vendors, or even set up defense posts together. Still, there's value in numbers to keep yourself safe and to deal with all of the potential surprises you might encounter. There's still more reward for taking greater risks, but Fallout 76  still wants to provide equality opportunity to have a fun collaborative experience too.

The update will expand the CAMP system with Best Builds, which is a new feature that lets you showcase your camps, upload and share them. You can then vote on the camps you like and featured camps will get highlighted across different servers,  so if you’re creative, ambitious, or both, here's a chance to shine.

Crafting changes will also introduce the ability to scrap Legendary weapons, armor, and even power armor at a workbench. For your trouble,  each piece that you scrap gives you a chance to learn the recipes for crafting those legendary mods.  If you get the recipe and you craft the mod at a tinker's workbench, you can apply it to  your gear or even sell or trade with other players.

Milepost Zero will come to Fallout 76 in September.
