The next World of Warcraft expansion is chock-full of surprises, and Blizzard has given a peek at the upcoming Hero Talent tree, which we first learned of back during BlizzCon 2023. The new talent system will bring players more abilities, powers, and class changes.
This standalone talent tree will unlock once players have reached level 71 during The War Within expansion, which will go live next year. These self-contained talents will still go hand in hand with players’ regular talent tree, where adding to the Hero Talents will only further strengthen and build upon the overall class power.
Just as with the original talent tree, Hero Talents will have three class-specific trees to choose from, with Druid and Demon Hunters being an exception. Druids will have four trees, while Demon Hunters will only have two. Each class specialization will have two Hero trees to choose from, one example being a Warrior.
Warriors will have Slayer, Colossus, and Mountain Thane Hero Talents to choose from based on the player's original specialization choice. Fury warriors can go either Slayer or Mountain Thane for their Hero Talents. Protection warriors can either go Mountain Thane or Colossus.
There will be a total of 11 nodes to choose from per each Hero Talent tree, and just as in Classic WoW, you will earn one talent point per level from level 71 to 80. There will be starter builds available for players to choose from if they would rather have the talent choices made for them.

Though The War Within does not yet have a set release date, Blizzard has peeled the curtain back on some of what players can expect when it does release, especially during the BlizzCon panel.
