A new Population Zero dev diary looks into world exploration and how exploration ties into various other mechanics.

Exploration is described as a feature which ties together various other features and mechanics of Population Zero. For example, exploration can be used as a storytelling driver, in addition to the fun random meandering many of us are used to enjoying.

In Population Zero, this exploration has a direct effect on your character. Exploring and discovering new places may gain you new knowledge which may lead to new skills and equipment.

Check out the video below where Creative Producer Denis Pozdnyakov and Level Designer Polina Zubareva discuss the world, regions, and how exploration affects player progression and world-building.

Population Zero launches May 5th on Steam. If you’re interested in the beta tests, you can buy a Founder's Pack on the official site if you’re so inclined.
