Pocketpair has made a new change to Palworld in response to ongoing litigation, and confirmed a previous change in a new statement.
In the latest update, 0.5.5, there is one change: “The mechanics for gliding with a Pal have been changed. The new glider change is for the exact same reason. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company sued Pocketpair over accusations of patent infringement, and the case remains ongoing.

As they note, you have to have a glider in your inventory to glide, and you will still get passive buffs from the Pals on your team. It adds up to an extra step but, “We understand that this will be disappointing for many, just as it is for us, but we hope our fans understand that these changes are necessary in order to prevent further disruptions to the development of Palworld,” Pocketpair added.
