Modern problems require modern solutions and players have discovered a number of solutions to deal with ‘Dragonsplague,’ an in-game virus in Dragon’s Dogma 2 that’s been responsible for infecting Pawns (NPC allies) with an incredibly virulent disease capable of wiping out entire towns.
Figuring out if a Pawn has been afflicted with Dragonsplague isn’t easy, especially early on, as the effects of the disease are intentionally subtle. One of the major ways Dragonsplague spreads is by players hiring other players’ infected Pawns. So, the community has come up with a way to signal to owners of infected pawns that they might want to aggressively wash (read: drown) their Pawn to rid them of the disease. It’s a simple approach. Gift the pawn with rotten food and thumbs up the pawn to signal that the Pawn was appreciated, but well, they’re a plaguebearer and need to die.
Naturally, some PC players have resorted to a much simpler method of ridding of Dragonsplague: mods. There are mods that disable Dragonsplague, cure it from afflicted NPCs, and even one that gives you a diagnosis of the Pawn’s current infection level. Once a Pawn reaches “level 10” the infection is considered terminal.
