Throw some snowballs, too

The latest Nightingale update brings not only wintry goods, but also player-hosted server, automated resource gathering via NPCs, and a bit more.

A boon for classic survival game players who love a good time with their friends, players can now host their own server. Unlike the public test run, characters from live online realms can be downloaded as part of these servers. As with other player-hosted servers, the host just needs to share an IP address of the hosting computer or server.

Players who want to intertwine their Estate even further with their gameplay can now recruit Survivors to automate resource harvesting. By building a Resource Automation Station, you can assign up to 15 Survivors to your estate to gather and/or progress wood, mining, hunting, and farming. There are only Tier 1 stations for now, but more are yet to come.

To the more magically-inclined fighters, there are a few new sinister spells to try out. Darkness is a straight damage-based attack, Grasping Mire summons tentacles to slow and damage enemies, and Life Drain is… well, a life drain, using enemies’ health to heal your own.

For better or worse as well, there’s now a Public Realm chat, obviously the best type of chat in any large-scale multiplayer.

And speaking of friendly fire, there’s also snowballs as part of the holiday events! You can hit your friends if you turn Friendly Fire off. For the less fun, there are also some nifty new outfits and decorations available.

There are quite a few other new additions and fixes, all of which are available on Nightingale’s Steam update blog
