Rogue Planet Games has announced the next major update for Planetside 2 set to arrive in December. We’ve got the details.
This latest update is called Expedition: Oshur and is described as the first large-scale, water-based continent released in seven years. Michael Henderson, Lead Designer of PlanetSide 2 at Rogue Planet Games, expanded in a press on what Oshur will bring to PlanetSide 2,
“Rarely do we get to deliver players an entirely new combat space, and it’s been years since a playspace has been created at this scale. The team has done some amazing work bringing this to fruition, and I think our players are really going to dig it.”
In Oshur, you’ll be able to take command of wheeled vehicles across the surface of the water continent. But the battle also extends to the ocean’s floor where you’ll find infantry and treaded vehicles. Additionally, submarine-like aircraft will be roaming the oceans between the floor and surface.
Oshur itself will make its presence known in the first chapter of a two-part campaign. That campaign is set to debut on PlanetSide 2’s nine year anniversary on November 17. The second chapter of the campaign will see you travel to Oshur in December which is when the new update launches.
Earlier in September, a major update overhauled the new player experience. And you can learn about just how much work goes into the animations of the MMOFPS here.
