Continued work on PlanetSide 2 by the developers  at Rogue Planet Games to polish up various systems, especially following the addition of new content and new systems with the recent Oshur update, the PTR now has another round of the Arsenal update ready for testing and feedback.

Just what it sounds like, the Arsenal update is overhauling the game's weapons and giving them new life as well as balance. factions are going to receive new empire-specific Basilisk top gun weapons, so these have been revealed and they are still missing a little bit of polish but are otherwise ready to be tested. Clear feedback on the vs Heat weapons is still in need of work, so it seems like they're a little more underwhelming in general so they're working on making them more fun.

This update to the PTS for the Arsenal update also includes tweaks to attachment changes, implant changes, and general weapon changes affecting different models. An example of this would be the SG-ARX Rutheford shotgun where the magazine will not be visible during reload and the size increases from 3 to 4 but ammunition capacity goes from 60 to 28. If you’ve got the time, it also fires a single explosive round while aiming down the sights that gives you a nice damage bump.

Over all these changes, including a number of changes to magazines, extending them, is going to shape how everyone can play PlanetSide 2. With new mechanics like underwater combat and other weapons effective underwater, this also plays a role. What remains to be seen, and part of the reason they still need feedback, is how these changes will affect favorite builds.

With games like PlanetSide 2, EVE Online, and others having focused time and effort into huge New Player Experience overhauls, having systems change in PlanetSide 2 feels like a next chapter here.

Find out about all of the changes in the next PTS round for the coming Arsenal update for PlanetSide 2.
