Even after becoming a surprise smash hit the past few years, Phasmophobia isn’t done with its haunts yet. Technically still in Early Access, the multiplayer horror mystery game has shared a roadmap for 2025 improvements, with a major gameplay update, a new map, map reworks, the return of seasonal events, and more soon on the horizon.

The biggest change that any Phasmophobia player will need to know is the “Chronicle” update, which alters the way players organize their evidence as it’s collected. There’s a new piece of evidence collection called the Sound Recorder, and it’ll be stashed in the Journal in a fresh new “Media” tab along with separate pages for Photos and Videos. Filling all these pages will be required for a perfect game, by the way!

Newly announced is the next step towards player freedom with the player character overhaul, which seems to be more of an update for now compared to a planned 2026 full customization mode. For now, character models get a serious refresh with updated models and animations, as well as adjustments to the “overall experience.”

There are also major map updates down the line. We already know about the Bleasdale Farmhouse rework, but Phasmophobia is also getting a brand new map on top.

“We’re keeping details close to our collective chests,” the devs explain, “but we can reveal it will be a small map - akin to the houses - in a location that’ll be totally unique to anything we’ve done in Phasmophobia up until now. We’ll share more later this year, but we’re excited to invite you in for your first investigations.”

Plus, Grafton and Tanglewood will be getting reworks as well later this year. The team claims this is bringing these maps in line with their “full vision for them,” meaning they’re going to be a lot more high-fidelity with “complete artistic overhauls of each map, including new assets and animations, a high level of visual detail as well as a few layout changes.”

The Phasmophobia team also promises a lot more fun on the horizon. The “Horror 2.0” update that’s meant to bring the game out of Early Access is seeing a 2026 release, up to six years after its original public launch, and seasonal events will return throughout the year.

There are more details on the Chronicle update and Bleasdale Farmhouse rework in a prior dev preview, the latter of which we know for sure is coming next month, in March. With this update, it’s good to know these are still coming sooner than later.
