Phantasy Star Online 2 is gearing up for its next major beta test of the upcoming New Genesis update, this time coming on May 14th.

SEGA recently held a closed beta test of the Japanese version of PSO2 New Genesis, however this will be the first chance for many to check out the MMO's Global version with the update. New Genesis changes much about PSO2, including a new open-world feel, an overhauled graphics engine (with PSO2 also receiving the new overhaul as well) and more.

This beta test, starting on May 14th, will allow players who are selected to hop into the upcoming update to Phantasy Star Online 2 and see these changes in action. The beta will only be available through the Windows 10 PC version of the MMO and not Steam or Epic, which the MMO has released on over the year or so since it's been out in the West.

Via the announcement on the Phantasy Star Online 2 website:

"Experience the vast open world of PSO2:NGS, set a thousand years after the events of PSO2, for the first time as a PSO2 Global player. During this testing period, we will also collect your valuable opinions and feedback to make the game the best experience it can be. We are looking forward to your applications then!"

PSO2's New Genesis beta will run until the 16th of May, ending at 7pm PT/10pm ET. Those interested can start registering via the Xbox Insider Hub on PC.

Steven had the chance last month to check out the Japanese closed beta, calling New Genesis everything he "ever wanted from the series." PSO2 also outlined some of the enemies that are coming in the updated version of the MMO last week.
