May is the month of MMO tests it seems, and another one is just on the horizon. Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis will be in testing mode this weekend, and for those who have received their invites, pre-downloads have begun.
For those checking out the Closed Beta of Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis, the Global Closed Beta Test begins on May 14th at 6pm PT/9pm ET and run through May 16th, closing up shop at 7pm PT/10pm ET. The beta test will be one of the first times for the global audience to check out the New Genesis upgrade to the long-standing MMORPG. Sign ups for the test are handled through the Xbox Insider Program, meaning if you're in the program already, you can join the test for a chance to participate.
While PSO2 is on Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Windows 10 store, the test itself is handled through the latter. New Genesis sees an overhaul to not just the game itself, creating a full open world, new story, as well as a new graphics pipline (complete with articulated fingers).
For those who have joined and are looking to download, the PSO2 website has some instructions on how to access the download.
The CBT client will be available for download from 5/10 7:00 PM (Mon) (PDT) to the end of CBT.

Step 1: Launch the Xbox Insider Hub App on your PC.
Step 2: Go to “Previews” and then PSO2 NEW GENESIS Closed Beta.
Step 3: Select “Show in store” to visit the Microsoft Store and install the PSO2 NEW GENESIS Closed Beta.
Download method for those who have not already signed up via the Xbox Insider Hub App:
Step 1: Launch the Xbox Insider Hub App on your PC (or install the Xbox Insider Hub App from the Microsoft Store first if needed.)
Step 2: Go to “Previews” and then PSO2 NEW GENESIS Closed Beta.
Step 3: Select “Join.”
Step 4: Once registration is complete, visit the Microsoft Store and install the PSO2 NEW GENESIS Closed Beta.

Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis will launch globally in June on PC and Xbox consoles. Stevenhad the chance to check out New Genesis in the Japanese closed beta, and came away praising the upcoming MMORPG.
