Phantasy Star Online 2’s New Genesis has received an official launch date. The good news is you won’t have to wait long to dive in. New Genesis is set to release on June 9 in a simultaneous launch for Japan and globally.

New Genesis has been in closed testing for some time now. If you missed our thoughts during our time in the beta, you can catch up here. While it was previously announced SEGA was targeting a June release window, the exact date wasn’t quite confirmed.

Now, however, we know New Genesis is confirmed for June 9. Fred White from the PSO2 Global Team shared his thoughts on the announcement via the accompanying press release,

“After our successful closed beta test last month, we are now ready to share the official launch date for Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis. On June 9th we will be launching globally, opening up the gateway to the brand new world of Halpha for ARKS across the planet! The date marks not only a monumental game launch, but also the continuance of storyline in the long-beloved Phantasy Star series. We can't wait to enter this new chapter together with players!"

New Genesis is set to include new expansive playfields with plenty of enemies to test your mettle. It also brings enhancements to character models using the creation engine. Speaking of which, the PSO2 graphics engine has been totally redesigned. Expect to see more lush environments, greater detail, better particles, and more.
