In a tweet depicting several of the weather effects in the upcoming standalone update Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, the developers also warn that players should be careful when venturing out in bad weather.
According to the tweet, players that head out into the various weather conditions have more than just lightning, fog, or rain to deal with. Certain enemies will gain in strength when their preferred weather condition is set. While weather conditions are nothing new in Phantasy Star Online 2 the shifting weather and effects it has on enemies could certainly add some interesting dynamics when adventuring in New Genesis.

New Genesis information has been trickling in from tweets, as the second Japanese closed beta test sign-ups have closed and the test date is pending. PSO2: NGS is planned to release some time in 2021, and so far, it’s shaping up to be an exciting expansion. While PSO2: NGS is a huge graphical overhaul, with new systems, a different world, and an entirely different time period, players will be able to shift their character back and forth from the original PSO2 to New Genesis so they can experience the content of both.
