This week, the monthly Headline video detailed several updates coming to Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, including a new region set for June. Today’s update is now live and brings some of the announced new features to Retem, social features like photo rooms, and raises the level cap to 45.

With the level cap increase come new opportunities for rewards and challenges. Today’s update adds new High Ranked Sectors to Retem, along with new Urgent Quests. Take time farming PSE Bursts in these Rank 3 sectors. The  new challenges feature monsters that require some new strategies to defeat, like being able to buff the creatures around them. Also getting some additional challenge is Gigantix, which goes up to level 49. DOLLS in both Aelio and Retem will drop new themed weapons that feature a unique weapon potential. There are also new Photon Arts for all weapons, and one will be added to most weapons. Rods, wands, and tails will instead get new compound techniques.

When it comes to social and quality of life updates, this new patch has those as well. One of the most helpful should be in the new party recruitment system. This will help you recruit players from the same room using the communications menu. When you set your party's goal and requirements to join, you'll get an icon appearing over your character showing that you're recruiting. This way others who are looking to join teams can be able to check to see if your the right teammate for them.

There are also new dedicated photo rooms. This is designed to be a fun social feature,  allowing for photos without enemies and a customizable scene that lets you even change the weather. They are also working to add a playlist function to the mag jukebox so you can customize your play music.  This update also introduces a brand new streamer mode which will show gameplay while disabling chat during screen sharing function, you'll get custom notifications about rare drops and things you need to know even while using this feature.
