Earlier today at the Tokyo Game Show, SEGA showed off some of the first glimpses of their upcoming revamp of Phantasy Star Online 2, New Genesis. The livestream, which is about an hour long, goes into multiple facets of gameplay, showcasing combat, the map, gathering and more.

The livestream revealed that there will be three classes at launch -  a Hunter, Ranger and Force. The video showcases combat of all three, giving you a good idea of what you can expect when you take the role of one of the classes when New Genesis hits. Additionally, the game world, while open and seamless, are segmented into exploration and battle areas - the former letting you hunt and tame monsters as well as gathering; the latter brings non-stop team battles.

The game world looks beautiful, (timestamped at 29:10). Logging into Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, you'll be put into a lobby area - which from there you can simply run out into the world. It looks like a much different experience than the current segemented world we know in PSO2, and hopefully will provide a true seamless experience like the devs are promising here. The team also showed off quick ways to move about the map, such as a Dash or Glide that breaks up just the monotony of running around.

You can watch the full English language stream on the official Phantasy Star Online 2 YouTube channel. One note - the voice over is a little hard to hear as he's translating in real time over the Japanese-speaking presenters. But it's definitely worth a watch with a coffee if you're looking forward to see what New Genesis brings the MMO.
