With Sega’s presence at Anime Expo 2022, the company has announced that Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis is coming to PlayStation 4 on August 31st. They’ve also commissioned artwork that features at the convention, with concept art to figurines on display for fans.

Already on PC and Xbox One,  when the PlayStation 4 version comes out, it will come with the full year of updates since launch, including the most recent update, "Frozen Resolution" , which added the snowy mountainous region of Kvaris. The new Waker class, which is coming in August, will also be on the PS4. With the new platform, there will be cross-play between all versions.

The Waker class will use the harmonizer in melee combat, differentiating itself from the Summoner. The Waker will use familiars, but they won't need to be raised. You can also swap your familiars in order to match your fighting style.

The PS4 launch version will bring an already fast-paced action game (and nine years of the original Phantasy Star Online 2) to players, broadening reach. There may also be some platform exclusive items to come.

Large open environments, enhanced character models with many customization options, and the ability to travel across the landscape with abilities, including the most recent version of snowboarding added with the Frozen Resolution update, it's a large-scale system that continues to roll out its story over time. Adding in the PS4 now will give players a good chance to catch up with all the content since launch as the global release will then move forward together.

There's also a 10th anniversary event  starting in the PC and Xbox One versions on July 6th. There will be new scratch tickets, Central City will be decorated, special enemies will spawn, and more activities are planned, including a limited time Quest.
