Much of the issues surrounding Phantasy Star Online 2 on Windows 10 has been due to the poor implementation of the Windows Store apps. Players have had to find work arounds just to get the MMO running in an acceptable manner. Thankfully, that (hopefully) will be a thing of the past as PSO2 hits Steam next week.

Coming August 5th, Phantasy Star Online 2 comes to Steam just in time for the first major content update since the MMO came to the west. Episode 4 will be available for both PC and Xbox One users that same day.

Via a press release, Fred White, the head of marketing for Phantasy Star Online 2's North American team,  mentioned that the goal is to bring the MMO to as many players, as well as confirming features such as achivements and remote play will be coming with the Steam release.

"It is our goal to bringPhantasy Star Online 2to as many players as we can. We have heard the requests for a Steam launch, and we are excited to announce that soon Steam users in 36 countries on six continents will be able to experience PSO2 on their platform of choice, including popular features like Steam Achievements and Remote Play. The Steam Store page for PSO2 opens today. Additionally, all players on PC and Xbox One will be able to start Episode 4 on the same day -- August 5th!"

Episode 4 of Phantasy Star Online 2 brings players back from a long sleep only to find that ARKS has been infiltrated. Additionally, players will battle evil in a familiar location in another dimension - Earth.

Recently, SEGA announced at the Xbox Games Showcase last week that an overhaul of PSO2 was coming next year as well. Dubbed New Genesis, the update will bring with it improvements to the graphics engine, open world exploration and much more. Earlier this year, Steven reviewed the long-awaited Japanese MMO, praising the amount of content available to the player for such a low entry cost (it is free to play afterall).

Editor's Note: We were notified that PSO2 will hit steam in 35 regions, not 36 as they stated previously.
