Pax Dei's next patch, called Proving Grounds, is slated to hit the sandbox MMO on November 5th, and Mainframe Industries has released an updated FAQ to detail to players exactly how the upcoming wipe affects plots, players, inventories and more.
The major change is a revamped world, with much of the landscape and geography getting changed across all of Pax Dei's various regions. This necessitates a full world wipe of all structures and plots thanks to the fact that through the new landscape, existing structures might be stuck in the middle of mountains, hills, lakes and more.
As a result, Mainframe doesn't want Paxians to lose all the resources and progress made over the course of its early access period. A special inventory will be created that will house all the resources from the various structures, chests and even player inventory so nothing is lost.
However, the wipe will also bring new PvE opportunities, including new enemy camps, a new biome and more.
"With this first Verse (content update), we’re changing the geography of the world of Pax Dei, allowing us to introduce a new biome, review the resource distribution, move the PVE locations - adding enemy camps in the process. We are also adjusting the borders of the Home Valleys in the process.
These changes require that we reset all the plots, as most of the places where they are currently placed will be transformed after the update. Your current home could end up at the bottom of a lake, or below a mountain! Fear not, the content of your plot is not lost and your characters are not affected[.]"
The wipe, according to the Pax Dei developers will also have the added benefit of moving the active player base closer together on their various shards while removing inactive player plots from the world. Clans will also be wiped, meaning player groups will need to reform their Clan upon logging back in after maintenance.
Characters aren't being reset after the wipe, though, meaning any player skills earned throughout the last few months will be retained. Players who wish to rename their character can do so after the wipe, though you'll need to stick with the same region shard you initially joined (meaning an EU character can't choose a US shard, and vice versa).
As far as recovering resources on wiped plots, if you're in a Clan with shared resources, it might be tricky to get all the resources you've personally gathered back as the resources on each given plot will be returned to the plot owner, not the player who harvested them. Also, you can start to grind for materials to store on your plot in anticipation of the update, as with Proving Grounds, resource location and distribution will be much different. For those who can't log back in right after the wipe, rest assured that your resources will remain in the special inventory (redeeming queue) until the next wipe. So there's time.
