Pax Dei’s updated roadmap is out, and Mainframe is reflecting on Early Access, community response, and importantly, giving us an idea of what's coming later this spring and further down the line, including a number of new items on the updated roadmap.
Since Early Access opened, a lot of things had to be shifted, as the team spent much time stabilizing the game and adding what was needed to get things running as needed. Part of their efforts were due to feedback that it took too long to get to the fun. So, Proving Grounds added enemy camps, basic gear and spells, plus a new biome and balance passes to lower the on-ramp a bit. Combat also got improvements, with many more to come. In fact, combat is the center of the next big update (Verse 3).
Verse 3 will revamp the world to increase player density and interaction with more Heartlands per province and the overall size of the Wildlands will shrink a bit, moving some resource locations. Expect new spells, a new weapon type, revamped armor and melee weapons, improved crowd control and overall combat progression. Melee weapons will get ways to make them more distinct and offer choices. They're working to simplify early game crafting and add storage and crafters in the starting area.
Down the line, Lyonesse, the PvP province, will get a revamp, along with PvP overall. we'll also see the addition of trade towns, gear customization, mounts, as well as new items, enemies, and furniture. expect improved NPC behaviors, controller support, and will finally get to learn the lore.
Mainframe is also planning to share more details on their monetization plans “designed to support server costs while ensuring fair value for players”.
