Pax Dei's Path of the Adventurer update will be “the most substantial RPG and combat update to date” and the team has new details on the upcoming combat overhaul.
With this update, Mainframe wants to give combat both additional depth and structure. We can expect distinct combat roles to take shape, but hybrid builds and customization will remain viable options. With so much player-driven stuff in Pax Dei, we can’t expect a rigid trinity.
Each piece of gear will have an item power score, scaling with your combat skill level and gear quality. They redesigned all armor classes for specific combat rules and also streamlined gear slots.
Armor skills will also impact how effective you are with certain armor types. Additionally, the more you use certain gear, the more experienced your character gets with that gear, in a way that they're trying to align progression with your playstyle. When you add in armor and gear synergies, this also offers more build options.
Weapons will have three unique special attacks, and they're getting rid of generic final hit bonuses to give weapons distinct identities.
All of this will work in a system they want to make more tactical. Spirit, a new shared resource for all combat roles, adds a layer of timing and choice. You can track your spirit on the redesigned HUD, which will get streamlined.
Dungeons are also being completely rebalanced for an improved experience, better progression, as well as challenge that ties into all of these other changes.
This is a large and ambitious update, and you should check out the full post with the details. This is just the beginning since all of these changes are the start and we can expect changes to crafting, more depth that ties into the gear changes, richer loot tables, and more build diversity options.
